Guildmaster Charter

Introduction

Guild Masters perform an important role on Hyperborea, as they are they link between guild members and the wizard who is responsible for the guild. Guild Masters are usually medium level players who are online regulary. They know a lot about their guild and are always willing to help new members find their way around. When a Guild Master becomes a Wizard, new elections will be held, since a Guild Master will always be a player.

Responsibility

The Guild Master is the person who forms the link between the wizard who is responsible for the guild and the members of the guild. If the Guild Master decides that an issue is important enough to take up with the Wizard, he can do so by posting a message on a bulletin board that is only accessible for Guild Masters and Wizards. Furthermore, the Guild Master will train new members in the ways of their guild. Finally, the Guild Master will keep an eye on the other members of the Guild and warn them if they exhibit undesirable behaviour.

Guild Master's Office

Each Guild Master has a private office where only she can enter. The Guild Master office has an exit to the Guild Master bulletin board, which can be used to talk about issues that are interesting to other Guild Masters, or to suggest ideas to Wizards. Since Wizards will not participate in discussion on Guild bulletin boards, this is where the Guild Master can present her ideas. Also, the Guild Master has the ability to remove posts from the Guild bulletin board. It should be quite rare that this power is used. Any kind of censorship will not be tolerated by the Council of Archwizards.

Snooping new players

Each Guild Master has the ability to use the gmsnoop command. With this command, the Guild Master is able to see whatever a guild member who is only guild level 1 or 2 can see. The command should be used to help new members get used to their new commands. If the gmsnoop command is used, you MUST tell the player that you are snooping about it! If he objects, do not snoop him! All usages of gmsnoop will be logged.

Reading the guild log file

Guild members have the gcomment command which they can use to relay ideas, hits or suggestions to the Guild Master. The readlog commands shows the log files. If a Guild Master finds a remark on which she thinks action should be taken, it is the responsibility of the Guild Master to inform the Wizard who is responsible for the Guild.

Non-interference

Just as Wizards have a non-interference guideline, so do Guild Masters. Like any players, you, as a Guild Master, are not allowed to release the location of your Guild House to players who are not a member. Nor are you allowed to provide solutions to the Guild Quest to other players. Once players have joined your guild, you can give them advice, but never solutions to quests.
